Here at LAUT, we know the importance of giving back to help those around us. Each month, our team gets together and chooses an organization that is making a difference within communities. This month, we are proud to present to you our charity for the month: Generation Hope.
In America, less than 2% of teen moms earn a college degree before the age of 30, and more than half of college parents drop about without earning their degree. In 2010, Generation Hope took action to help change the direction of these statistics.
The overall vision of Generation Hope is to give teen parents and student parents every opportunity to be successful in life by empowering them to create their own future.
The Generation Hope process consists of two parts. First is to provide student parents a support network consisting of mentors and tutors. These and other vital resources have proven to double the student’s chance of getting a college degree. The second is an early childhood program for the children to give them necessary literary, academic, and social-emotional skills so that they can enter into school prepared to thrive.
This two generation model helps build a more solid foundation for the family by providing a brighter future for all involved.
